ENERGY AUDITS

Do you know how much energy you use per day?

Do you know if you are efficient in your energy consumption?

Would you like to reduce your energy consumption and ultimately your energy bill?

It is vital to get the right advice when it comes to your energy requirements. We are a team of experts that can help you with any energy related queries you may have. We will come to your premises and do a comprehensive audit of your business or home to make sure we match your needs completely.

Providing a service where we visit you and find out what the best energy package for you is, taking into account all aspects of your current energy usage.

Do you know how much energy you use per day? – Eskom state that an average of 28kWh is used per day on an average household.

Are you efficient in your energy consumption? – Appliances are tested for how much energy they use in a typical use. They are rated on a scale of A to G, A+++ being the most efficient. How many of your appliances are A rated?

How can you measure your consumption? – As simple as recording the meeting reading at a certain point in the day, and then recording the reading 24hrs later. This will give you an indication of your daily useage.

We will then provide you with a detailed report on what we have found, which will include our recommendations on the best course of action for your business or home.

    REPLACEMENTS

There are a number of energy efficiencies that can be made by replacing items within your property as part of your energy strategy.

We will report these options and where these items can be procured.

10% of a residential property’s energy consumption is lighting. Switching off unnecessary lights, switching to LED bulbs and the correct wattage can support a reduction in consumption.

An electric kettle consumes between 1200 and 3000w depending on the type of kettle. Although a stove top kettle takes longer to heat, if it is on a gas stove top you will reduce your energy bill as gas is cheaper than electricity.

A solar-powered geyser can save up to 50% of your hot water bill. If your geyser is under 5 years old or in good condition, a conversion can be installed simply and quickly and at a far lower cost to a full change. Please see our section on WATER HEATING.

Installing a reverse cycle air conditioner is three times more energy efficient than using an electric heater.

    Energy Audit Process

Energy efficiency is the use of less energy to perform the same task or produce the same result. We will run analysis on your property to deliver a detailed report on the solutions you can implement to fulfil your energy strategy.

We have two processes that we follow for your energy audit, depending on your time availability.

We use the e-Max system to analyse your energy consumption to discover more

    WALKTHROUGH

We utilise an energy meter to measure the properties of electrical power that is being consumed in a real time manner. This consists of attaching the meter to the DB Board and capturing the output. Ideally over a three-day period, but we can run a process by switching on appliances and areas of the house in a shorter period to simulate the output. Additionally, we can review your electricity bills.

We will review your main appliances and the service history to determine the efficiency of your appliances as well as inspecting the wiring, insulation and any gaps in your building.

Our report will highlight your average total daily consumption, peaks, any high energy appliances.

We will review your property for available sunlight and roof space based on orientation of panels to the sun and time of year. This determines the size and number of panels that can be utilised.

We will send you our audit form for completion. This gives us a view to be able to give you a standard solution quote. We will conduct a site visit prior to any final price confirmation to ensure all costs are understood.

    CHECKLIST

Our energy audit checklist includes the following:

    • Address of building – this allows us to run the address through a solar radiation programme to determine the panel potential of your building for any solar solutions
    • Type and size of building (square footage) – Assists in understanding how much energy is utilised on a daily basis
    • Type(s) of fuel used for space heating, cooling and water heating – Are there any efficiencies in place already or are there opportunities to reduce the energy consumption through new solutions
    • Appliances – number, age, and efficiency rating(s) for major appliances in use in the building
    • Essential Load – List of all items required on the solar or battery back up solution. This allows us to determine the size of solution that is required
    • Electricity Bills – details from at least three months of electriciy bills so that the daily average can be calculated.
      •
